It is a good day not to be living in
Sweden! Gamers in Sweden now have to pay $5000 for a permit to be able to connect PCs and Gaming consoles! Although, Sweden contributed to half of the world’s construction industry with IKEA and Minecraft; while also contributing to 80% of Earth’s music culture with Kazaa, ABBA, and Swedish House Mafia, this is too much! $5000 to enjoy and create a great LanParty! This is madness!
The ruling was made by the Gambling Board, who are the supervisory authority for gaming and lottery in that country named Sweden, that now sucks for gamers. Oddly enough, last year the same Gambling Board revised a slot machine regulation, and this new law is putting Lan Parties under the same roof. What the F is happening, PCs are not slot machines! It maybe true here in our country with PisoNet but I won’t bet that they have those in Sweden.
”In the eyes of the law, these are slot machines. There is no difference,” Johan Röhr, general counsel at the Gambling Board, told the computer magazine M3. – A SCUMBAG STATMENT
The good thing here is that computer shops are not part of this law in Sweden, since the computers are connected for the NOT the sole purpose of gaming.
Sweden is one of the biggest gaming contributors. They hosts DreamHack, the biggest LanParty in the world; so this would hit their gaming community the hardest. So for all the gamers in Sweden, we extend our sympathies to you guys.
F.U. Swedish Government!
Indeed a sad day in Sweden
