First of all, what the hell is Direct X and why do we need to effin install this before we play games? Such a bother!
So it all started when Microsoft was transitioning from the MS-DOS to the Windows 95 OS. Gaming programmers had a hard time developing games through Windows 95 because its a new OS, which means less games, which translates to less profit. So Microsoft needed something to correct this problem, thus the Direct X was born. Direct X, basically is a collection of application programming interfaces for that handles tasks related to multimedia; especially for game and video programming on Microsoft platform.
Microsoft announced that they will be using a new graphic system. They have done talks with Intel, Nvidia and AMD for this one, and will utilize “Tiled Resources”. This will make use of your RAM and your graphics card RAM to improve the details of the game you are playing by storing your textures there. And by the looks of it, it will improve alot!
iOS, Android does not have this.
This would be great if you have Windows 8 running on your PC and would be upgrading to Windows 8.1, since the Direct 11.2 is exclusive to Windows 8.1. Though the DirectX 11.2 will also be available to the Xbox One, this might be something to push both Windows 8 and Xbox One after receiving a lot of negative sentiments from everyone.
Backwards compatible with current DX11 cards.. Sweet!! Windows 8.1 here I come!
