There only so much you can do with a branded desktop. Usually, features tend to be as simple as possible to lessen the complication of using it. I’m not sure, but most people who buys branded desktop, wants that convenience of using it immediately. Unlike DIY PC where you have the choice to do so much more, branded desktops are more of a plug and play type of machine.
Back in Computex,2013, we saw a particular type of feature from the ASUS branded desktops. I thought that it will be a while before they release it to the market. I was wrong.
In a recent event held in Amber in Fort Strip, ASUS revealed that they are pushing through with it. The M51AC, positioned as multimedia desktop, this baby is equipped with the new ASUS Mobile Power Bank, USM Storage Center and ASUS Wireless Charger. WOW!
The Mobile Power Bank functions as a built-in UPS system which would allow users to save their files within a couple of minutes in case a power outage occurs. This is very much useful especially when election or the rainy season comes. You don’t have to worry on retyping your whole paper if your a student, or re-bullshitting your report due tomorrow if you are working. This Mobile Power Bank can also be remove to act as a true Power Bank device when your on-the-go to charge your mobile devices like cellphones and MP3 Players.
The Wireless Charger on the other hand utilizes the induction technology to wirelessly charge mobile devices. So when you are working, you don’t have to worry, just put your mobile phone on top of your desktop and its charging.
Lastly, the Universal Storage Module or USM allows you to plug in your external hard drive, or interchange external hard drive directly on your Desktop. NICE and Convenient.
Asus also announce that their new Gaming Desktop the G10 will have the Mobile Power Bank and the USM as well.

As Apple’s Phil Schiller said, “Can’t innovate anymore, my ass”. Asus is innovating branded desktops.
We have no word yet from Asus Philippines on how much this would cost, and no specifications have been released. Most probably this would enter PH market around late Q4 or early Q1 of next year.
